| 75th Anniversary Limited Edition
Rollerball - Hi! I just recently purchased my 4th Mont Blanc Pen. It
was the 75th Anniversary Limited Edition rose-gold with diamond inset and
mother of pearl peak. I love it! I have been a Mont Blanc pen owner for
several years and I have the Classique ballpoint, pencil, rollerball, and
now the anniversary ballpoint. I have had repairs from scratches on the
ballpoint which cost me $40 Canadian, and if it cost me $100 I would pay
it, because these pens write magnificently! kennedyj@cgocable.net |
| Roller Ball Pen - I was on a
cellphone listening to my voicemail messages and realized I needed
something to write with, so I turned to my business colleague and asked
for his pen. He gave me his Mont Blanc, unfortunately. I broke the cap by
trying to remove it with one hand (my other was holding the cellphone). I
found this site in my quest to buy him a new cap instead of a new pen.
I've never owned a Mont Blanc, and you can sure I never will. kent@wolfenet.com. |
| Fountain Pen - Have two fountain pens
and one rollerball. The large fountain pen was a gift, it leaked. I sent
it to Mont Blanc. They repaired it and sent it back. No charge. Had the
small fountain pen re-tipped. It cost but, I can't remember how much.
Don't think it was outrageous. Rollerball? I wish the refills lasted a
little longer. All in all, I like the pens. They stay on my desk. I've had
one stolen, so I never take them out anymore. I use Uniball pens...$7.50 a
dozen at Costco. Frank fharrell@LAbridge.com |
| Mechanical Pencil - I purchased a
Mont Blanc Mechanical Pencil in March this year. When the pencil was
dropped, the entire case shattered. I have returned it to Staples and they
are unable to do anything. I am interested in where I can purchase a
replacement case. This pen is many times more than any Cross pen I own and
they have a lifetime warranty. Why doesn't Mont Blanc stand behind their
products????? Where can I get a replacement case???? J. Turco Joseph.Turco@usa.xerox.com |
| Fountain Pen - I've had my pen for
about 6 years now, I have used it everyday. However today the tip broke
off just like yours did. I need to find out Mont Blanc's info so I can
complain, if it will do any good. I want it fixed if possible, because I
really enjoy writing with it. K. Cook Keith_Cook@CGUUSA.com

Fountain Pen - I appreciate this
website and all that it offers in educating me on the overpriced piece of
status symbol I received as a gift when promoted. The damage to my pen
occurred at the airport security xray. When placing all metallic objects
in the tray, it was accidently knocked off the counter and cracked exactly
as in the photos on this page. I have not attempted to repair it as yet
and probably never will. I love the way it writes, ink flows well,
balenced feel, etc., but I am disappointed in the warranty policy based on
what I have read. Maybe I will pursue repair with MB just to hassle the
customer no-service. I will let you know of the outcome. Kahunawood@aol.com

Fountain Pen - I am really shocked
by this list of postings. I had been considering buying one of these pens,
wasin the Mont Blanc storein Honolulu last week and really liked them. I
have used Parker Pens for years and recently switched to a Shaeffer set as
Parker have become difficult for me to get. The Shaeffer ballpoint is the
smoothest writing I have ever used and the fountain pen is a delight. One
thing I will point out for rollerball owners, I have had the same
complaint with bothParker and Shaeffer refills running out quickly. Check
out theweb site of Fisher Pens (the space pen people), they make a
rollerball refill that fits most other pens, the MB included, for $9.00 I
have been using the same refill for almost a year now. I will not be
buying any Mont Blanc pens or pencils anytime soon after reading these
postings. Thanx everyone. Jim jim_gilchrist@direct.ca

Fountain Pen - My wife purchased a
Mont Blanc Meisterstuck LeGrand a couple of years ago as a gift. I never
had a chance to use it because the ink started leaking when I first tried
it. Finally got a couple of refills, but they started leaking when I took
off the protective caps. I currently have no plans of ever trying to use
it again. mert@ysa.attmil.ne.jp

Fountain Pen - Purchased a 144 about
two years ago and paid top dollar ($265) at a store in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dropped it a few times while getting used to it, there is hardly any
weight to it, and once it landed on the nib, on the desk top. After this
it sort of scratches a little while writing but if held in the right angle
it is almost unnoticeable. I am very happy with this pen and will be
adding more MB's to my collection in the future. Even with the scratching
it still writes better than most of my other pens. Lou metalfab@sgi.net

Roller Ball - I own three Montblanc
roller balls, three fountain pens (including two limited edition models)
as well as a pencils, and I've always been very pleased with their
performance. In addition, when I've damaged one of the items -- and I've
broken several because of my own carelessness -- the Montblanc service has
been both excellent, quick and inexpensive. I'm sorry others haven't had
my experience with the goods/company, and something in the future may
cause me to revise my opinion, but as of now, I'm a Montblanc enthusiast. bvinyard@home.com

Roller Ball - It sounds like you
have my pen. I have sent my rollerball in twice in a 12 month period for
the EXACT SAME THING! As a matter of fact, I checked my PO Box today and
it just got it back this morning. I hope they gave me a new polishing
cloth. (hehe) Scott Thompson scott@scottthompson.net

Fountain Pen - I came upon this site
in my search for fountain pen repair specialists and/or the corporate
address for my Montblanc. I see that I am not alone in my Montblanc woes.
I bought my 144 fountain pen in 1987 to celebrate my entry into graduate
school. The pen leaked quite a lot and ruined my work so I eventually
stopped using it. Recently, when I took the pen out after 5 years in its
box, the threaded barrel split and cracked: half the threaded unit is on
the upper body and the other half on the nib portion. What an overpriced,
overly hyped, and cheaply made pen. Nothing to celebrate, surely. Azalais5@aol.com

Several Pens - I have several
montblancs but never prefered them. They feel cheap and really are cheap
pens that are simply high priced. There are many better pens on the
market. I prefer pelikan, omas way over montblanc. John Pelikan1@aol.com

Fountain Pen - Mont
Blanc pens are made out of a "fine polished resin" that is
extremely difficult to manufacture. They use this material to make their
pens large, but light, then polish them to a high lustre.
Unfortunately, this material is britle and not
durable. This is what makes it a "fine, precious" material in
Mont Blanc's
literature. I sold these pens for 15 years at
a specialty retailer and found that Mont Blanc conducts their service to a
Euporean standand, and not an American
standard. C. Cole coletopher@mailcity.com

| General Comment - I have
read through this page with a degree of bemusement, especially the
articles in which people have had severe problems with their Mont Blanc
pens from the very first use. Why not return them to the store and have
them replaced or refunded? If you have big problems within the first week
of using the pen, a return seems very reasonable. The warranty booklet
that came with my pens indicate that warranty and other repairs in the
United States are handled by Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph located in New York.

| General Comment - I am a
pen collector. I also repair pens. Over the years as friends of mine have
discovered this fact they have brought me their pens for repair. When
someone brings me a Mont Blanc the problem is usually the barrel is broken
clear though. I have seen sets broken this way. Of all the other pens I
have repaired a broken barrel is very rare. Because of the lack of
quality, I no longer own any more Mont Blanc pens. I do not advise anyone
to buy them...unless they are pre-1960. Buying a Mont Blanc is like paying
Cadillac prices for a Yugo. mpoplawski@aol.com
